Nigerian Music - Mo Hits – Record Label – Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Wande Coal, Dr Sid
Mo Hits Records is the Brainchild of prolific Music Producer, Singer and Song Writer Micheal Ajereh a.k.a Don Jazzy, formerly one half of the Dynamic duo of producers at Backbone music in the Uk. Don jazzy has worked on production for some of the Uk’s top musician including Lemar, the hit music group Big brovaz and nigerian based group JJC and the 419 squad.
Deciding to support the music industry back home in Nigeria Don Jazzy started his label and discovered an extremely talented young man (Dapo Oyebanjo) and together they created the international phenomenon that is “D’BANJ”. They launched the record label and D’banj’s debut album “No Long Thing” in 2004. They created a new sound that took the Nigerian music industry to the next level of its evolution. The album from D’banj “Rundown/Funk You Up” received rave reviews for fans and pundits worldwide, this album boasted Hits like “why me, Loke, Do you like the koko and Rundown”. This is still one of the highest selling records of all-time in Nigeria. Expanding the record Label, Don Jazzy between 2005 and 2007 signed four young artistes; Wande Coal, D’Prince, K-switch and Dr SID. In October of 2007 D’banj won the MTV Europe music award for Best African Act crowning his achievements as a musician and entertainer.
Mo hits records released a compilation album to show case its artist in December 2007, called “Curriculum Vitae” with hit singles like “booty call, move your body, kpere and Be close to you” and through the marketing of this album created the first fully accountable distribution networks. In June of 2008, D’banj Released his third album “The Entertainer” keeping in line of his previous works the album was a huge success with Monster hits like “Mogbono Feli Feli, Fall in Love, Igwe and Suddenly”.
Don jazzy who is responsible for the production of all tracks released from mo’ Hits records is extremely committed to live up to the name of his record label and keep producing more hits!!
One of his biggest jobs is working on a beat for Jay Z’s “Watch The Thrown” album.
One of the Mo’Hit Stars and the Vice President of Mo’Hits record, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, was born in the Northern city of Zaria, Kaduna State, to an artillery Officer and a church dignitary whom hailed from Shagamu in Ogun state.
Due to his father’s job, D’Banj moved several times within Nigeria as well as abroad to India. He was sent to Nigerian military school at age 11 and was expected to enter the military like his father, but at the age of 14, D’Banj picked up a weapon of different kind and altogether more peaceful; the harmonica. He was introduced to this instrument by his late elder brother, Femi Oyebanjo, who tragically died in a plane crash at age 17 on his way en route Lagos from NigerianMilitarySchool, Zaria. His brother’s harmonica was one of his possessions recovered after the incidence and D’BANJ started to cherish it. His incredible harmonica skills are self taught; he says, “I play the harmonica like it was built for me”.
D’Banj became more and more involved in music and he cannot see himself doing anything else with the same passion. His song “All The Way” is about the struggles he has faced with his parents over his chosen career. Dapo has now adopted the elegant, almost French-sounding name “D’Banj”, a combination of his first name Dapo and his surname Oyebanjo. He has recorded songs with established artistes like Ruggedman, JJC & 419 Squad, Weird MC, El Dee, Da Don, Ikechukwu, SID and the newest sensations like; Wande Coal and D’ Prince among others. He has also performed alongside many international artiste here in Nigeria; Bennie Man, Wayne Wonder, Kevin Little, Ja Rule and was adjudge the best Nigerian performer at the THIS DAY MUSIC FESTIVAL which was held in Nigeria in October, 2006. He performed at the mentioned show alongside international music icons like Beyonce, Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliot, En Vogue, Ciara. He performed at “History of love 101 concert” alongside Donell Jones, 112, Kenny Lati Moore and Chante Moore on the 10th Of February, 2007.
D’Banj is moving from height to greater height every day, the beginning of his achievement recognition came when he won MOST PROMISING MALE ARTISTE AT THE KORA AWARDS, 2005. He had won so many AWARDS afterwards which includes;

Another of Mohits Stars currently making waves in the music industry Wande Ojosipe, elegantly called Wande Coal, was born on the 18th day of October, 1985. He is the first child of 2 children in the family.
Wande like most great musicians, started singing in the teenage choir at his church, he got his break through in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer. He continued improving his vocal skill and got signed to Don jazzy’s Mo’ Hits records in 2006. He featured on D’banj’s Rundown/Funk You up album on singles like; Loke, tonosibe and why me.
Being signed to Mo’ Hits records he is also a member of the Mo’ Hits allstars, and played a major role in the CV (Curriculum vitae) album. His first single of the CV album “Ololufe” has been described as the greatest love song ever written by a Nigerian. Wande Coal has also recorded track with other Nigerian artist including; Ikechukwu, Naeto-C, SID, D’Prince and P-Lola. He has been dubbed the town crier because of his performance where he announces the entrance of D’banj singing D koko.
Apart from being a talented singer, Wande Coal is also a brilliant performer as can be seen at his numerous performances, which include;

D’prince, also known as Charles Enebeli, one of Mo’ Hits crew was born in the city of Lagos. He is the last child of a family of four children in which Don Jazzy is the first child. His father, Mr Collins Enebeli, is a Business man and a musical production manager, with his own label known as, Sagitarious productions, and Mrs patience Enebeli an international Business tycoon. Music has always being in the family..so he is no stranger to the music business.
He attended Kings College Lagos for his secondary level education and then decided to follow his passion for music. Having a strong musical blood flowing through his veins, it wasn’t too long before the music came calling, at that time Don jazzy was also ready to embark on D’banjs project in the UK, after he was done with the album he needed to come back home to Nigeria for promotion of the album, and to establish his record Label. D’Prince was asked to be a part of the movement, and that was his golden moment in being officially signed to Mohits records.
Ever since, D’prince has being in Mo’ Hits records, but behind the scenes working on his personal album..D’prince has recorded a whole lot of songs for Mo’ Hits records..and also the Mo’ Hits compilation album “CV” which went on to be one of the highest selling albums of 2008, with songs like..Booty call, close to you, Masquerade, Stop the Violence, Igbe mi, Hey girl, what you want to do to me, Oh no, calm down with ikechukwu..amongst many others..
He is joining the ranks of Jay-Z and other entertainers who have taken the big plunge into the hospitality and nightlife industry by launching his own club! The club is called Jonzing named after one of his hit tracks Jonzing World. The club which is located within the highbrow residential and commercial area of Lagos, Nigeria -’The Island’ Off Ajose Adeogun is the first of its kind. The venue screams ‘lush’ to say the least, from the Interior to the exterior and has a holding capacity of over 300 people.

Sidney Onoriode Esiri, porpularly know as Dr SID, was born on the 1st of May, 1980. Into an entertainment family. His mother is a successful fashion designer and his father, the legendary actor Justus Esiri, famous for his role as the Village Headmaster. The second child of four children.
From an early age, he had his heart set on becoming an entertainer, however, his life took a different course graduating from the Nigerian Air force Secondary School.
SID went on to the University Of Ibadan (UI) to study Dental Surgery. During his school years, his flare for entertainment could not be hidden as he took part in school plays, dance competitions and concerts, wining numerous awards along the way.
His break through finally came in 1999, when he signed onto a fresh new record label Trybe Records (who released the legendary hip hop group Trybesmen) as a choreographer. It took 3 years for SID to get his chance in front of the mic, when he was made a member of Da Trybe, and given a spot on the song that caused a revolution in Nigerian Hip-hop “OYA” in 2002. Alongside Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen (Eldee, Kb and Freestyle). Over the next year, SID recorded his Debut Single “Don’t Stop” and had the number one video on the MBI top ten for 8 weeks. His music career had to be put on hold as he had to take a year out to finish up his university degree.
In May 2004. SID became a qualified Dentist. He moved to the UK, working with the likes of JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70 music group and a then Unknown D’Banj. Returning to Nigeria SID spent the Next year working at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, and then went on to serve his country. Fulfilling his educational and National obligations, he returned to his first love, music.
He had since signed onto Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits records, alongside D’banj, Wande Coal, Kayswitch and D’Prince, and featured on 7 of the 15 tracks on the Mo Hits Allstars CV (Curriculum Vitae Album), and featured in the videos for Move your body, booty call , kpere and Close to you.
His album “Turning Point” carried hit songs like “Something About You, Pop Something, and Ba Mi Jo featuring MI, Ikechukwu and Eldee.

SID is multi-talented, he has the talent of being not just a musician, but an MC. He has hosted numerous events over the years, some of which include;
Soul E starcomms concerts at The Vault (for 5 Months), MTV alert concert at Planet one, Next Nigerian Icon launch at the Civic Centre, Diamond bank end of year party 2006, Fusion Charity Fashion Show 2006, The Rythym Council (benin and enugu), MTV MTN VJ search……. to mention a few. He is definitely a born entertainer and is here to stay, so watch out for this young man in the years to come.
Kay Switch, also called kehinde oladotun oyebanjo, one of the porpular Mo’ Hits crew, was born into a family of six children on the 12th of February, 1985. He is a sibbling to D’Banj, porpularly called the “KOKOMASTER”.
Kay switch started rapping in year 1999 and had a couple features on singles and performed with now popular artiste. He became a full fledged member of Mo’ Hits records in 2004, after the successive hits of the respected record label. Since then, Kay switch has performed alongside D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, Ikechwuku, D prince, Dr SID, Nice, Tu face, and also featured in number one selling albums like the entertainer, curriculum vitae album.
