The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has assured electricity consumers in the country of sustainable improved power supply as it continues with the massive overhaul of electricity infrastructure in the country.
In a statement issued yesterday, the utility company also gave an assurance that the significant improvement in power supply being enjoyed nationwide was not temporary but permanent. According to the statement, the improvement was as a result of the on-going massive rehabilitation and expansion works on PHCN power stations, transmission and distribution networks, geared towards a reliable and sustainable power supply to the nation. The rehabilitation efforts came from timely completion of in-house repair works in Kainji, Sapele and Shiroro power stations,” it said.

“Also six 60MVA bulk transformers were injected to wheel additional power to major load centres in Alimosho and Maryland in Lagos, Ughelli in Delta, Owerri in Imo State, Apo in FCT Abuja, Mando in Kaduna and Gombe to reduce technical losses and generally guarantee quality and reliable electricity supply,” the statement added. The company said in addition, rehabilitation works were carried out on several switch gears, breakers and other transmission facilities. In the distribution companies, several 7.5MVA to 15MVA power transformers and 33/11KV panels have been injected into the system to improve voltage level and relieve overloaded transformers and lines,” PHCN said.
In order to sustain the improvement, the company called for cooperation from stakeholders, saying it needed the support and collaboration of all stakeholders. It  appealed   to customers as patriotic citizens to protect its installations nationwide and settle electricity bills promptly.
