Minna — The Niger state business office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has decried the rate at which electrical installations are vandalised in the state. The business office unit which communicated the situation in a press release signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mrs Elizerbeth Kolo yesterday in Minna, has called on all power consumers and the general public to keep vigil, adding that removal of properties have led to epileptic power supply in parts of the state. The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) wishes to bring to the notice of the general public and most especially electricity consumers the alarming rate of vandalisation on our network. PHCN is therefore calling on village heads, ward heads and community leaders to kindly form a vigilante group in their respective areas to safeguard their transformers and other PHCN installations. We are also appealing to our customers to assist stop illegal recognition and removal of fuses by youths as the act has the potential to cause accident and damage to our equipment in the network,” he said. The authority has also called on people residing in Niger state to always demand for staff identification card, adding that people can pose as officials while carting away properties worth millions of naira unnoticed.
