Nigerian Music - El Emcee – Artist – New
Born Emmanuel Aondongu Akaha in Ibadan in the nineties, I Grew up & just finished my high school in the food basket of the nation whish is Benue state where my parents are originally from, and I’m about to conquer Nigeria in a new world of Hip Hop which I’ve already captured the middle belt. It took me less than six months. Lagos should be just a minor pushover. I haven’t heard any hip hop who can do half of what I can do.
LATEST – “Run This Town” – El Emcee, Fantom, Beat Sleenga, Shapera
The Song Is A Nigerian Remix Of Jay Z’s Run This Town. Talking About The Corruption Eating They Nigerian Politics Today. Its Just A Medium, Used By Some Of Nigeria’s Leading Hip Hop Heads To Indirectly Pass A Message Across To The Nigerian Public.
BENUE AGAIN First, TU FACE. Then BLACK FACE. TERRY G.Now Behold The NEW FACE of Music “My Name Is EL” he replied
It sounded blasphemous; a taboo actually from where I’m from for someone to even remotely equate himself to GOD, for EL is GOD in the Hebrew Language.
I was so shocked I had to ask again.
“Your name is EL? As in ‘EL SHADDAI’?”
“No” He replied
“EL as in EL EMCEE” An emcee is a rapper, a lyricist. I’m simply the ‘god of Rap’.”
At this point I could relax just a bit, for this ‘god of Rap’ was yet to prove his well perpetuated title to me.
Therefore, Ladies n gentlemen, big boys N girls, please join me as I bring you the ‘young god of Rap’, EL EMCEE.
“Please tell us about yourself”
At this point, I started loosing interest in this man who calls himself EL EMCEE, the god of rap. His words are like those I’ve heard a thousand times before, but at the press of the play button on my CD player after inserting his disk into it, I have to admit the whole conversation took a dramatic turn for me. I resisted the urge to ask, but my curiosity got the best of me:
“Did you ‘effect’ your voice or is it my inability to differentiate between you & Jay Z?”
At this point, I had to admit that EL EMCEE is phenomenal. You have to physically see him perform his songs to believe that the voice is coming from this kid of 20 who sounds like he taught the legendary Jay Z a thing or two. A deep, clear, well articulated voice bursting rhymes with a certain sort of harmony which is all new to the industry. I guess talent knows no boundaries. I usually get bored after the second track analyzing Nigerian CDs, but I went all the way to track nine on his debut album titled ‘BUSINESSMAN’ with hit songs like SETTLED, ERINMA, KOLO, etc. featuring producers and singers like, MODENINE, ILLBLISS, PRINCE BANTON, MAKA WHIZY, NAIRA(GEORGIA), BEAT SLINGER, JONAH DA MONARCH, K SOLO, XERXES, DA PEACEMAKER, PM, BEEGPHEEL, DIP FREE etc and with photo graphics from BODY LAWSON. The album is due out DECEMBER 2009
